Volkswagen Tiguan – Winter Driving

Tiguan Winter Driving

While many of us are dreading the upcoming winter in Nova Scotia months, we still need to keep safe driving on our minds. We have all been taught to use caution and stay a safe distance behind the car ahead of us. But just knowing this is not going to keep one safe completely. You need a reliable car to help with that. The Volkswagen Tiguan fits that bill.

The Volkswagen Tiguan is a very safe car to drive during the harsh winter months. What many love so much about this car is that even though it is an SUV, it does not feel big and bulky in that manner. It provides a lighter feel than most SUVs and is on the smaller end in size.

The Tiguan can handle deep snow nicely. As it has a clearance of almost 8 inches to the ground, you can expect this car to get you through deep snow to get to your destination safely.

Think about your drives in the winter. Do you have a steep incline to travel up that may be icy or slick? Or perhaps you have a road that is never plowed in time for you to get to work. Maybe you have some off-road driving to do if you hunt? Whatever the case is, know that your Volkswagen Tiguan can handle it.

The 4-Motion All-Wheel Drive allows you to power through the snow when the front tires start to slip by allowing the back tires to power. Icy and snow-covered roads will not be a match for the Tiguan.

The Electronic Differential Lock is needed in conditions that may allow a driver to get stuck on slippery surfaces. Power is automatically transferred to the drive wheels which ends in the torque being shifted to a different wheel that has higher friction. The computerized system that detects wheelspin through ABS sensors will then apply the brakes to wheels that don’t have any hold and are rotating. Should the wheels spin too much, the Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR) will decrease engine power, which will allow the tires to grab onto the roadway to assist in moving the car forward.

The Volkswagen Tiguan is a great car to have in winter conditions. With many safety features, this lightweight SUV can get you through snowy and icy conditions in the blink of an eye.
